National Indigenous Media Association of Canada (NIMAC)

NIMAC was formed in 2012 to represent the common interests of Indigenous broadcasting and telecommunications companies across Canada.

Our goal is to strengthen the Indigenous communications sector by ensuring that the interests, needs and concerns of Indigenous communications service providers are heard and addressed when changes to legislation, regulation, and policies in the communications sector are being considered.

We serve our members by

•           Identifying key issues confronting Indigenous broadcasters, telecommunications, SP service providers, and communities in areas that lack or are underserved by modern broadcasting, telecommunications, or internet services

•           Conducting, commissioning and disseminating legal, statistical and other research on behalf of the Indigenous communications sector in Canada

•           Providing a non-partisan forum for Indigenous companies and communities engaged in or concerned with the state of broadcasting, telecommunications and internet service to work collaboratively to set out key challenges and effective solutions

•         Representing the interests of the Indigenous communications sector before legislators, regulators and other government decision makers through policy submissions and meetings
